If you've never been to Snowshoe before, let us fill you in some secrets and a few of our favorite things to do and places to go.
If you are new to skiing, but the bunny hill has lost its adventure, you probably want to ski at Silver Creek. Silver Creek's trails are wider and much more forgiving to novices. You will learn quicker and gain your confidence faster, trust us.
If the lines at the lifts start to get long, here are some things to try:
If you elect to eat out in the Village in the evening, be prepared for up to a two hour wait. Our approach is to put in our names as we come in from night skiing, take our showers, and kill any remaining time shopping in the Village. This is way better than actually waiting.
Our favorite restaurant in the Village, without a doubt, is Rimfire's very own Foxfire Grille. Everything from the food, to the drinks, to the atmosphere will leave you wanting to return as soon as possible. But, if you were to try one dish there, do not pass up on the salmon. It is simply scandalous.
Did we mention the hot tubs already? They are located through the exercise room and offer spectacular sunset views of the mountains. Try and spend at least one night sitting back and taking it all in. You won't regret it.
The elevators in Rimfire Lodge can be painfully slow at times, so unless you are burdened with a lot of luggage, consider using the stairs instead.
If your drive to Snowshoe brings you through Staunton, a quick and easy way to go from there is to head west on US-250 until WV-92. Otherwise, turn on US-220 in Monterey until VA-84, then on to WV-92.
